Join us to celebrate the opening of our four new exhibitions:
John Lyons: Carnivalesque
The first retrospective exhibition of Caribbean British artist and poet John Lyons, spanning over 60 years of painting, including sketchbooks, prints and drawings.
Ayo Akingbade: Show Me The World Mister
A solo exhibition comprising two new film commissions shot on location in Nigeria, building upon Akingbade’s continued interest in history, place-making, legacy and power.
Shirley Craven
An exhibition of vivid, colour-filled textiles by post-war designer Shirley Craven from the Whitworth’s collection.
Everyday Art School
A dynamic new project space that brings together collections, ideas and community action to bring art into your everyday life and rethink how we use it.
There will be a cashless bar for refreshments and the Whitworth Café and Shop will be open during the evening. For conservation reasons, food and drinks cannot be taken into the exhibition galleries.
