About this Event
This talk by Prof John Methven of the University of Reading is part of the Arctic Mirage Exhibition at Reading Museum.
Arctic Mirage brings together an ongoing body of work by Reading-based artist Julian Grater, which explores the contemporary high arctic through painting, drawing and photography.
Informed by research and development trips over many years the work is about Grater's experience of Greenland, a region of increasing geopolitical, environmental and social change as it collides with the modern era.
Change on both a glacial and human level are brought together in a series of intense portraits of Greenlandic people. Large, bleached out paintings and abstracted photographs immerse us in a sense of uneasy introspection.
REGISTER ON THE MUSEUM WEBSITE: Professor Methven's talk is free to attend but you must book via Reading Museum website.
