Action for Pollinators is your chance to dive into the fascinating world of bees, butterflies, and other tiny-winged wonders, and to discover their pivotal role in combatting climate change. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits:

Awareness and understanding: Discover why pollinators matter! Learn about their vital role in mitigating climate change and sustaining our ecosystems.
Inspiring action: Get empowered! We’ll share practical ways to protect pollinators and make a positive impact on our planet.
Showcase and insights: Explore projects by passionate NGOs, school leaders and find out more about the Climate Education and Sustainability ITE Framework produced by the Institute of Education. See how education drives change!
Interactive sessions: Engage in workshops, exhibitions and talks led by experts. From beekeeping to butterfly gardens, there’s something for everyone.
Community connection: Connect with fellow participants, teachers, and practitioners. Together, we’ll create a buzz for a greener future.

University of Reading staff and students: Expand your knowledge and appreciation of pollinators. Be part of the change!
Local primary and secondary school colleagues: School mentors and ITTCos, this is your chance to inspire and collaborate.
Practitioners and community members: NGOs, charity organisations, and climate enthusiasts - let’s unite for pollinator conservation!

Who is involved?
The event is a collaborative effort– from the Institute of Education, the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, the School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Science and the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) – to unveil our sustainability allies, through a range of interactive activities and presentations!
What will I get to do?
During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops, interactive activities, informative displays and hear about real-world case studies. Explore projects by NGOs, such as Pollinating London Together, and hear from our esteemed guest Dr Heather Barrett-Mold, Vice Chair of Pollinating London Together (PLT), a Chartered Scientist, Horticulturist, and Environmentalist, who will discuss the vital role of pollinators and the actions we can all take to protect and support them.
