Yosi is excited to be screening the 1927 silent film : Sunrise, Song of 2 Humans, directed by F W Murnau who also directed the original Nosferatu. He will be accompanying music on organ, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute and percussion. The film's plot follows a married farmer (O'Brien) who falls for a woman vacationing from the city (Livingston), who tries to convince him to M**der his wife (Gaynor) in order to be with her. While the film has no audible dialogue, it was originally released with a synchronized musical score with sound effects using the Movetone sound-on-film process. The story was adapted by Carl Mayer from the short story "The Excursion to Tilsit", from the 1917 collection with the same title by Hermann Sudermann.
Yosi also accompanied music to the horror silent film Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney in October 2025 at the Brighton Unitarian Church as well as Ben Hur in May at the All Saints Centre in Lewes, Charlie Chaplin's City Lights. In January last year the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Cabinet of Dr Caligari in November 2024 as well as the Lodger , Charlie Chaplin Modern Times at the All Saints Centre in Lewes and at the OSO Centre in Barnes to a packed house as well as having been a regular performer at the Classic Cinema Club, the International School of London and Addison Primary School. He has played musical accompaniment on such films as the Artist, The Passion of Joan of Arc, the Arabian Nights, the Man who Laughs, the Voyager, Balloonatic and the Electric House. During lockdown, he streamed musical accompaniment online to films such as Fritz Lang's Metropolis and the comedies of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
Yosi has also accompanied and shown a few silent films at the All Saints Centre, the first being The Temptress, 1926, starring Greta Garbo as well as Metropolis , the Fritz Lang classic. The screening of Nosferatu is the first time that they showed accompanied silent films at the Brighton Unitarian Church at Halloween 2023.
Yosi is also a seasoned classical pianist and jazz saxophonist/flautist. He performed the Goldberg Variations at St Michael's Church in Lewes in November 2024 as well as played with the Lucharian Trio, Latin-Indo-Celtic jazz trio with Lucho and Sean at the Con Club in Lewes. He also plays regularly with Momentum, 6 piece dynamic latin-Jazz fusion group, with 3 albums. They play regularly at the Pizza Express in London as well as the Bull's Head in Barnes and George IV in Chiswick where they played at the London Jazz Festival.
He will also be giving a piano recital at St Michael's Church on March 14th this year, a programme of music from Bach, Haydn, Brahms, Ravel and songs of David Bowie on piano. He is a regular performer there, and played last November, a charming programme from Mozart, Bach, Kabalevsky, Chopin, Debussy and Chick Corea.
