The Garden Cinema is back this Summer!!!!
Brasileirinho is a 2005 musical documentary film by Finnish film director Mika Kaursmäki about traditional Brazilian choro music genre. The film showed at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival. It is titled after the 1947 song, Brasileirinho.
This musical documentary is a tribute to "choro", an older style of playing that forms the foundation of all Brazilian composition. "Choro" is one of the most authentic musical genres of Brazil. The rhythm, which has a strong presence in the country, is a masterpiece of European and African music and inspiration for the samba and bossa nova.
The screening is for a small group in an open air space with roof protection.
We will be raising funds for Tomasote de Guayana, an agrarian collective in Venezuela and an autistic school outside UK.
The film will have English Subtitles. There will be drinks and snacks for sale on the night.
