MIKE KUNKEL is first and foremost a cartoonist. Writing and drawing cartoons is something he’s wanted to do since he was a kid and now, with over 20 years of experience in the animation industry, Mike has done just that! He’s worked on numerous TV and film projects as a director, story and development artist, character designer, screenwriter, and animator. Mike has worked for studios such as Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Sony Pictures Animation, Universal Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
As a published writer and artist, Mike has been nominated three times for the prestigious Eisner Award and four times for the Ignatz award; he’s the creator of the two-time Eisner Award-winning comic book series Herobear and the Kid. As a designer for TV, he won the Annie Award for Best Character Design in an Animated Television Production. He developed and teaches the Storyboarding Workshops at Animation Mentor.
Mike Kunkel has worked on some major Hollywood movie like Disney's 1997 Hercules, Home on the Range, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
STEVE MITCHELL is best known for his work as an inker at both Marvel and DC Comics during the 1970s–1990s, having inked lengthy runs on Batman, Detective Comics, and Iron Man!
Steve Mitchell was a key member of the "blue jean generation" - a term he helped popularize to describe the younger, more rebellious wave of artists who transformed the comic book industry in the 1970s. He worked closely with legends like Neal Adams and Dick Giordano at Continuity Studios, where he also served as an assistant and co-founder of the Crusty Bunkers, a group of young artists who shaped the era’s creative culture.
While he began his career in 1972 working for Marvel Comics on Marvel Team-Up #4, his first published work for DC Comics was in 1973 on the title G.I. Combat. Later on he worked on such titles as Our Fighting Forces, Amazing World of DC Comics, Kamandi, The Superman Family, Weird War Tales and many more.
Steve is also a filmmaker, having written & directed the cult horror film "Chopping Mall", Roger Corman's "Against The Law" and the documentary "King Cohen". He also contributed to writing the animated series Transformers, GI: Joe, and Star Wars: Clone Wars.
In recent years, Steve Mitchell has also emerged as a respected watercolor artist and instructor, teaching landscape painting through platforms like Etchr Studio and YouTube’s "Mind of Watercolor' channel.
His artistic journey spans decades, reflecting a lifelong passion for visual storytelling across comics, film, and fine art.
