NHS Accredited Scottish Mental Health First Aid.
The two full day (12 hour) course covers a range of topics to improve confidence in responding to the mental health needs of those around us.
The course takes place on the 03rd and 04th June 2023. Participants must attend both dates. One ticket purchase covers attendance for both days.
Timings:
10.30-5pm each day
Topics covered include:
- guidance on being a Mental Health First Aider
- attitudes to mental health issues
- equalities
- the recovery message
- the impact of alcohol and drugs on mental health
- introduction to suicide intervention
- listening skills
- understanding depression
- how to offer first aid to someone experiencing depression
- understanding anxiety
- how to offer first aid to someone experiencing anxiety
- understanding psychosis
- how to offer first aid to someone experiencing a psychotic episode.
Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

About your trainer
Kira has delivered Scottish Mental Health First Aid since 2016. With a background in digital health, Kira has worked in the third sector for more than 10 years. She has experience of supporting health and wellbeing work across various areas of work including youth work, LGBT identities, drugs and drug use, people with long-term health conditions and older people.
