About this Event
May Bank Holiday weekend, we will set off to explore Edinburgh and the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. This weekend is going to be all about meeting amazing new people, exploring Edinburgh, hiking in the Cairngorms, switching off and visiting the only free ranging reindeer herd in the UK!
Itinerary:
Friday - Day 1
On Day 1, we will arrive in Edinburgh. Drop your bags at Castle Rock Hostel and head out to explore the beautiful town center. We will meet for Dinner at 6:30pm before going back to the hostel to hear about the plan for the next day ahead!
Saturday - Day 2
This day will start with a continental breakfast at the Hostel. We will then hike to a viewpoint over Edinburgh, before grabbing some lunch to take on the scenic train journey across to Aviemore. Here we will have dinner together at a local pub, chill in the common rooms and play games.
Sunday - Day 3
We will leave the hostel in the morning to start our hike, stopping off first at The Barn at Rothiemurcus for breakfast & coffee. We will spend the day hiking round Loch an Eilein taking in the scenic views and forest air. We will get changed at the hostel before having dinner nearby and enjoying our last night together!
Monday - Day 4
Todays the day I am most excited for, it might be home time but the adventure isn't over just yet.. We will take a taxi across to The Reindeer Centre, where we will hike up to see a herd of free-ranging reindeer in the Cairngorm Mountains! There are currently 150 reindeer living there and I can't wait for you to meet them. After this we will catch a taxi back to Aviemore where we will pick up our stuff from the hostel, and take the scenic train from Aviemore back to Edinburgh. Then home!
The trip total is £275 and this includes:
- All accommodation
- 2 x breakfasts at the hostels
- 1 half day guided hike and 1 full day guided hike
- Evening games, homemade cakes, tea & coffee at the hostels
- Transport to and from the reindeer herd
- Tickets for the reindeer herd hill trip experience, including museum and paddock entry
- Some little surprises along the way ! - think gander.gpx goodies and wholesome activities
