MEETING POINT inside cemetery entrance on Pilrig Street.
Rosebank Cemetery in Edinburgh contains over 50 CWGC Headstones as well as numerous family headstones commemorating family members who died during the Great War and WWII. A CWGC headstone commemorates a wren whose husband was punished for overstaying his leave after his wife’s funeral. There are CWGC headstones to RAF crew killed in training accidents. Family memorials included one to the first female member of the Merchant Marine who died in the Great War as well as an Albert Medal awardee.
Also UK's worst railway accident happened when over 200 men from the 7th Battalion (Leith Territorials) Royal Scots were killed on the 22nd May 1915 in a railway accident near to Gretna junction on the Main West Coast Railway Line. The Memorial to the officers and other ranks is situated in Rosebank Cemetery.
The tour lasts approx 90 mins and covers about 1500 Metres on paths and grass with uneven ground.
There's limited on-street parking nearby. There are no facilities or toilets on site. Please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
