It begins before Scotland was Scotland. Before architecture was architecture. Between the mountain and the sky. Between the land and the river. An antinomy, an antisyzygy, a parallax. Tracing a path from Celtic culture, through Scots colloquialisms, to the ideas of Kant, Thomson, Gregory Smith and Žižek, Emmerson has uncovered some answers. But the search continues…
