Scotland Loves Animation is excited to announce the 2024 education day - open to any students of animation or related fields. Thanks to Anime Limited's sponsorship we were able to make the Education Day possible this year.
This year's education day features another world-class lineup of guests from the world of Japanese animation - first up is Asaho Takagi (Scent of First Love), an upcoming animator from CoMix Wave Films (Suzume, Your Name). Taking the afternoon in a tour-de-force is Nora Twomey to talk about Cartoon Saloon's journey to date.
A ll of these guests will offer up their own experiences from their time and unique perspectives working within animation, overseen by and in discussion with author of Anime: A History Jonathan Clements and Jack Liang of Polygon Pictures.

Making of: Scent of First Love
Join Maho Takagi from CoMix Wave Films as she discusses the making of her directorial debut - the music video "Scent of First Love" performed by Sakura Fujiwara.
Maho Takagi
An animator born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Her major works as animator are "Doraemon the Movie:Nobita's Treasure Island" and "Weathering With You". In "Suzume", in addition to working as an animator, she served in a wide range of roles including prop settings. She also worked as character designer and chief director of animation for "Challenge the World! | 2023 Pokémon World Championships".

Nora’s passion for visual storytelling began at an early age and has led her to explore the medium of animation with Paul Young, Tomm Moore , her partners in the internationally renowned Cartoon Saloon. From the studio’s early years, directing award winning short films & commercials, she went on to co-direct Tomm Moore’s ACADEMY AWARD® nominated The Secret of Kells while also guiding the development processes on a number of series including the preschool show Puffin Rock. Nora was Head of Story and Voice Director on ACADEMY AWARD® nominated Song of the Sea. She directed The Breadwinner, which was nominated for an ACADEMY AWARD® & GOLDEN GLOBE and won several international awards including the Best Indie Feature Annie and the Audience & Jury Awards at Annecy. Nora most recently directed My Father’s Dragon feature film, a Netflix original animated feature, inspired by the Newbery Award winning children's book by Ruth Stiles Gannett. Nora continues to develop original films and projects while working on Cartoon Saloon’s slate of projects in development and production. Cartoon Saloon makes brave stories, beautifully told.
