About this Event

Spanish Cinema Now + "Premios Goya” - International Screening Series is a special edition of our film program. This project is a collaboration with AECID and the Spanish Film Academy, designed to showcase Spanish cinema by screening films recognized at the Goya Awards. This series will feature three films, aiming to highlight the strength of the Spanish film scene.

Black Butterflies
  • Directed by David Baute, 2024, Spain, 78 minutes.
  • Original title: Mariposas Negras.
  • In Spanish with English subtitles. Watch trailer.

Inspired by real women, the story proposes a journey from Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia toward an uncertain future for humanity. Climate change impacts the lives of Tanit, Valeria, and Shaila—three women from very different parts of the world who have something in common: they all lose everything due to the effects of global warming and are forced to migrate.
