These insights play a crucial role in supporting conservation efforts along with offering innovative solutions for reducing human-shark conflicts, helping promote a more sustainable coexistence.
About Dr. Carl Meyer
Dr. Meyer specializes in shark behavior, ecology, and physiology. His research uses innovative techniques and interdisciplinary approaches to enhance fundamental scientific understanding of sharks, with direct applications for conservation, policy-making, and public education. Dr. Meyer’s applied work focuses on shark-human interactions—such as shark bites, fisheries bycatch, and depredation—providing crucial insights to improve both human safety and shark conservation.
As an educator and mentor, Dr. Meyer supervises graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications that have advanced knowledge of shark ecology and marine ecosystems worldwide. His expertise is recognized in both academic and public spheres, with features in National Geographic’s Sharkfest and Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin, where his work continues to shape global shark conservation and raise public awareness.

- Guests should go up to the top floor, then walk over to the Arts building
