Three legends in their genre come together at Foyles Charing Cross Road to discuss their craft,genre-defyingworld-building, and their latest work.
Iconic collaborators Jeff Noon and Steve Beard return with the conclusion of their epic two-book series:Ludluda,the sequel toGogmagog.They will be discussing their exquisitely told talealongsideAdrian Tchaikovsky, whoseDays of Shattered Faith,the latest in his symphonic The Tyrant Philosophers series,is released this December.
Jeff Noon is an award-winning British novelist, short story writer and playwright. He won the Arthur C Clarke Award forVurt, the John W Campbell award for Best New Writer, a Tinniswood Award for innovation in radio drama and the Mobil prize for playwriting. He was trained in the visual arts, and was musically active on the punk scene before starting to write plays for the theatre. His recent novel, The Body Library, was nominated for the Philip K Dick Award.
Steve Beard is a writer who experiments with making essays and fictions from theory, history, testimony and psychogeography. He has written various speculative novels and documentary fictions and contributed to the anthology London: City of Disappearances, edited by Iain Sinclair. He has collaborated with Jeff Noon on the novels Mappalujo and Gogmagog.
Adrian Tchaikovsky is the author of the critically acclaimed Shadows of the Apt series, the Echoes of the Fall series and other novels, novellas and short stories. Children of Time won the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award, and Children of Ruin and Shards of Earth both won the British Science Fiction Award for Best Novel. The Tiger and the Wolf won the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel, while And Put Away Childish Things won the BSFA Award for Best Shorter Fiction.
This event will be chaired by Dr Una McCormack. McCormack is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling science fiction writer of more than twenty novels, plus many audio dramas and short stories. An associate fellow of Homerton College, Cambridge, McCormack's academic interests include feminist science fiction, transformative works, and creative writing practice and methodology.
The event will be followed by an author Q&A and book signing. Doors will open from 6:45pm.
