About this Event

P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Scarlet Ibis James to celebrate and discuss her new book Beyond First Glance; spanning Ghana, Trinidad, and North America, these character-driven narratives examine love as choice, effort, and maintenance rather than fantasy.

Scarlet will be in conversation Dana Marie Ingraham, and will be signing books after the talk!

Doors open at 6:30pm with the talk starting closer to 7pm. Come early and grab a drink from the !

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Scarlet Ibis James is an award-winning author whose work explores love, longing, identity, and emotional truth across the Black and Caribbean diaspora. Born in Trinidad and Tobago and based in Harlem, NYC, her writing blends cultural specificity with universal human experience. She is the author of Scarlet Yearnings: Stories of Love and Desire and Scarlet Birthright. www.scarletibisjames.com

ABOUT THE MODERATOR:
Dana Marie Ingraham is a multidisciplinary artist dancing through language in various mediums. Born and raised in Queens, New York, her performance career spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, concert dance, and national and international tours. She is a 2025 Periplus Fellow; a recipient of a Poet and Author Fellowship from the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing; an alum of The Seventh Wave's Narrative Shifts Residency; and was awarded as a Presidential Scholar of the Arts. She is currently developing her debut project, Myth and Bone, which had its first public reading during the Fellowship of the Griots Communion series.

  • This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.
  • Doors open at 6:30pm, with the talk starting around 7:00pm.
  • Books will be available for purchase at the event.
  • Cost of a book bundle ticket reflects the total cost of the feature event book (MSRP plus tax). Each book bundle ticket guarantees ticket holders one (1) copy of the feature event book.
  • The talk will be followed by a book signing. Books signed at P&T Knitwear events must be purchased from P&T Knitwear.
  • If you would like a signed copy and cannot attend the event, we're happy to take your pre-order. We ship most places!
