Hi, We invite you to join us in a heartfelt celebration of the Joe H Makin Drama Centre on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, from 11am to 6pm. Drop in any time during the day to share cherished memories and stories over tea, view an exhibition of our rich history and maybe find some short pop up shows around the building, as we try and capture some of the creative and chaotic energy that has made the Joe H Makin building such a special place to work.
An evening celebration will continue at the Liverpool Arts Bar – 8-12pm.
For some, this will be the first time that you will have heard this news. We are incredibly sad that the building will no longer be in use by LJMU Drama but drama will be continuing at LJMU as Performance and Production starting in September 2025.
We would love to celebrate the building in which so much great work was created with you. Your time there with us is special and we would like to document as much as possible. If you have any photos or programmes or posters you would like to share, please bring them with.
On the Sunday there will be an early afternoon (2pm) performance of ‘The Ballad of the Sea’ created by Andrew Sherlock and performed by the Liverpool Shanty Choir.
Please extend this invitation to your fellow alumni and help us capture our shared history.
And if you can come, please fill this form so we can make sure there’s enough cake!
