On Saturday September 28th we’re super-exited to finally have THE ARSENALS play our stage at this month’s instalment of SATURDAY NIGHT ROCKERS!
Doors @ 8 PM.
A fixture in the Toronto scene since 1994, the legendary Arsenals specialize in a totally unique, high-energy showcase of the history of Jamaican music - everything from authentic Studio One SKA to ROCKSTEADY to CLASSIC REGGAE.
The 6-piece outfit lead by renowned trombonist ‘Dizzy’ Minott, have backed up some of the biggest names in reggae, including Derrick Morgan, Toots and the Maytals, Sugar Minott, Ernie Smith, Ziggy Marley, Third World, Bounty Killer and The Slackers.
Between sets we’ll have collector and documentarian DJ GRAMERA dropping crucial, rare selections from his renowned record collection. And if you haven’t seen his most recent documentary series SOUNDS & PRESSURE about the history of Jamaican music in Toronto, you can check it here.
And last, but certainly not least, the evening will be hosted as always by Toronto’s very own ‘Dub-Poet-At-Large’ the great CLIFTON JOSEPH.
