Isn't This Silly with Tom Calcuth
As improvisers, we can often put a huge amount of pressure on ourselves to do a “good” show, to make the right choices, to justify, to support perfectly. We get stuck in our heads, second-guessing our instincts while trying to do what we think is expected of us. In all of that, it’s easy to lose sight of the most important thing. We’re meant to be enjoying this!
When you watch great improv, it rarely looks like hard work. It looks like people playing, delighting in each other, and following what feels fun.
Through the workshop, we'll explore ways to find your shared sense of humour, to follow the fun even when it's stupid, and to trust that when you're having a good time, the audience will feel it too. Expect games and exercises designed to get you out of your head and into the moment, making each other laugh, surprising each other, and remembering why you started doing this in the first place!
Tom Calcluth is a Longform improvisor who performs as part of the Glasgow Improv Theatre house team "Bounce House". They are also a member of Falling & Laughing, and the longest reigning champions of the GIT Cage Match "MopOpera". They’ve performed at Glasgow International Improv, Edinburgh International Improv, Edinburgh Fringe, and Berlin DasImprov.
