Get off the back line! with Craig Innes
As improvisers, we can often find ourselves in myriad situations where we feel paralyzed in the shadows of the back wall, unable to step into the light of the main stage: The audience gives us a suggestion, our heads drop hoping the floorboards inspire us, a performer steps forward to begin a scene, and we dither on supporting them because we are uncertain of "the game" and do not wish to interrupt their process .

Sometimes, the most supportive thing we can do for our fellow performers is to step forward and contribute something of our own.

The goal of this workshop is to attempt to break the many filters that prevent us from contributing. We will work through exercises to encourage spontaneity and to imbue us with power in two person scenes *without* sacrificing what our scene partner has already built. We will also develop our confidence at making support moves by exploring ways to assert our voice in an ongoing scene without worrying about destroying it.

Craig Innes is an improviser who performs as part of the Glasgow Improv Theatre house team "Bounce House". They are also a regular performer in "The Improv Show!" at the Monkey Barrell Edinburgh, and in the team "Chekov's Fun" through the Edinburgh Big Friendly Improv Theatre. They have trained at the GIT, the Free Association London, Annoyance Theatre Chicago, and AndAlso Brighton.
