Movement Artist Jacqueline McCormick has explored, embodied and experimented with Contact Improvisation (CI) since 1989. Directly influenced by Steve Paxton, Karen Nelson, Alito Alessi and their work in CI, she teaches at Contact Festivals, Workshops and Jams throughout the USA and Europe, most recently Chapel Hill NC, Eugene OR and MDX University London. She founded DanceAbout in 1996, integrating her research into improvisation, especially Contact Improvisation, within performances and in making site sensitive movement films.
Jacqueline holds a B.Ed in Human Movement Studies and an MA in Dance from Mills College, Oakland CA. As Artistic Director for Cheshire Dance 2004-16, she extended the company’s artistic programme and delivered key dance projects. Jacqueline was Associate Professor of Dance at Connecticut College 2000-2004, and Western Oregon University 1985-1996.
