About this Event
San Mateo Delights celebrates the enduring partnership between the San Mateo Public Library, its Foundation, and Music at Kohl Mansion—nearly two decades of bringing world-class live performance into a civic setting.
This year’s program features Grupo Falso Baiano, a San Francisco–based quartet devoted to choro, one of Brazil’s earliest popular music traditions. Originating in the 1870s, choro is known for its virtuosic instrumentation, rhythmic vitality, and spirit of improvisation.
For more than twenty years, Grupo Falso Baiano has introduced audiences across California to this vibrant repertoire, with performances at venues including SFJAZZ, Yoshi’s, The Freight & Salvage, and the San Jose Jazz Festival.
We look forward to welcoming them to the Oak Room for an evening of dynamic, joyful music in the heart of the library.
The ensemble features Ami Molinelli (percussion), Brian Moran (7-string guitar), Jesse Appelman (mandolin), and Zack Pitt-Smith (reeds).
San Mateo Delights is part of San Mateo Celebrates, a weeklong festival of free programs and events highlighting the power of stories, ideas, and community.
