Get ready for an energizing, uplifting community experience, featuring guest artist-in-residence Mestra Renata Dias Fraga Scholl! Our goal is to have 40+ Dancers and 15+ Drummers, so please invite your friends and community members!
Registration fees and dates
“Super Supporter” registration is $40 through April 14. General registration is $50 (please note that the final day to register as a Dancer or Drummer is Sunday May 5. After this date registration will be for Spirit Section only).
2024 Carnival Season Schedule
Following is a tentative schedule. Make sure you are on our Community Text Messages for updates (text “funk” to 510. 800.7395 and follow the prompts to sign up). Stay tuned for other special events and gatherings.

Outdoor rehearsals
Outdoor rehearsals will start in May. They will be held on Saturday afternoons in Astro Park, Oakland (the grassy area between the library and the highway at Lake Merritt). Exact dates and times TBD. Please hold the time and attend as many as you can.
Saturday May 18th will be the first rehearsal with Mestra Renata.

Sun May 19: Dancer roles and costume requirements finalized and shared w/ registered participants
Week of May 26: “Hell Week” (costume nights, rehearsals, and more)
