MEET YOUR TEACHERS:
This workshop series will be led by three women who each bring with them something special and unique. Meet your teachers below:
Carolina:
With over 30 years experience in dance and movement, Carolina brings a powerful blend of physiology, artistry and joy to the dance floor! A highly trained mover, her background spans beyond dance into bodybuilding, circus arts, gymnastics and cheerleading - her movement journey has been anything but ordinary and each discipline adding depth to her unique approach. Her Samba was forged in the heartbeat of community! Carolina centres this in sharing the rhythm, energy and culture that makes samba so enchanting. She brings a dynamic mix of technique and style while celebrating individuality.
Nadia:
Nadia's passion for Samba started at a very young age, imitating the Passistas she saw on TV. From the moment she stepped into her first official class years later, she knew she was in the right place. Since then, Nadia went on to learn from renowned teachers, and performs on stages at local events, corporate events, weddings and more. She brings with her 20 years of specialized experience in the techniques, movement, art and energy of Samba. To Nadia, Samba is a big part of her healing journey, it's helped her move through life, find joy in difficult times, and it is a foundational piece of who she is. She is now on a mission to bring the joy, love and energy of Samba to others to support them on their own journeys. Her style of teaching gives her students permission to just BE, to express freely and not overthink their movement. Let's create art together.
Janine:
From theatre stages around the world to studios across Toronto, Janine has danced through every chapter of life, guided by a search for discipline, peace, and self-discovery. With a BFA and a career as a globe-trotting performance artist, she has explored countless movement traditions, ultimately rediscovering her passion through the transformative rhythms of Samba. Janine’s teaching reflects the richness of her own journey. Drawing on classical dance, yoga, and somatic principles, she takes a multidisciplinary approach, attuned to each student’s unique movement patterns. Her embodied pedagogy helps dancers find freedom, efficiency, and joy in movement that feels authentically their own. As a lifelong student of the body, and teacher, Janine brings deep knowledge and a gentle, adaptive spirit to every class. She delights in sharing her love of movement and finds no greater reward than watching her students fall in love with it too.
