Attending a SailGP event is a thrilling experience that immerses spectators in the high-speed world of professional sailing. As the world's fastest sail racing series, SailGP features cutting-edge F50 catamarans that can reach speeds of over 50 knots (90 km/hr). The excitement begins as soon as you arrive, with a vibrant atmosphere buzzing with anticipation. From the shore, you can feel the energy as these sleek, hydrofoiling boats glide effortlessly across the water, showcasing precision, skill, and teamwork. The close proximity to the action allows you to witness the tactical maneuvers and split-second decisions made by the world's top sailors.
The thrill is amplified by the dynamic nature of the races, where every moment counts, and the outcome can change in an instant. Spectators are treated to breathtaking views of the boats skimming above the waves, leaving trails of white water in their wake. The immersive experience is further enhanced by live commentary and big screens that provide insights into the race strategy and boat performance. ITINERY
We will depart the Viaduct marina berth around 10am and head out on the water to an island bay where we will anchor for morning tea, lunch and a swim (if weather is suitable). After lunch we will sail to a course-side location where we will anchor on the race course boundary and set up the 65 inch TV and live stream racing feed, ready to watch the racing when it commences.
There are usually two - three fleet races planned on the practice day (17th) and race day (18th), with two races and a finals race on day 3 (19th). We’ll take in the sights and racing action and then sail back to the dock late afternoon at the completion of the days racing around 7:00 - 7:30pm, where you can continue the party atmosphere ashore in the vibrant SailGP Village and surrounding waterfront Viaduct Harbour, packed with bars and restaurants.
If racing is cancelled or post-phoned on the day at any time after departing the dock, your booking is non-refundable. Sea Breeze III is committed to spending the day on the water and we will amend the itinerary to include an island stop, the opportunity to swim, go ashore, relax and enjoy the harbour.
Sea Breeze III is New Zealands largest superyacht in survey and approved for 99 people on harbour excursions.
