About this Event
SABJ invites the community to our annual Black Voices Matter showcase, featuring a one-of-a-kind event to demonstrate how journalists can employ the performing arts to pierce the wall of cynicism and revive the truth-seeker in all of us.
Join us for a special evening with veteran journalist and genre-bending talent Angela Poe Russell, who will share an exclusive preview of her original musical Aviatrix, inspired by trailblazing aviator Bessie Coleman. The complete musical debuts this spring at Seattle Public Theatre.
Together, we’ll explore how journalism, storytelling and the performing arts can break through cynicism and reconnect us with curiosity, empathy and truth.
Proceeds from Black Voices Matter will support the Patricia Fisher Endowed Scholarship.
