The Short-Range Operators Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) course conducted by qualified instructors from the South Australian Sea Rescue Squadron will provide a thorough understanding of maritime radio communication at sea. This is an internationally recognised qualification following the syllabus developed by the Australian Maritime College on behalf of the Australian Communication and Media Authority. Successful completion will result in the issue of a certificate of proficiency. This certificate is a prerequisite to gain a Coxswain or Master V certificate.The course provides training on the use of VHF radio communication equipment for recreational and commercial boating. The participants will learn the use of onboard VHF marine radios, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), Search and Rescue Transponder (SART), Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Digital Selective Calling (DSC) enabled radios, for effective use in maritime communications.
