RÁN
Melissa Achten and Ida Norby are Rán, a harp
and cello duo sewing the sonic weave of their
shared imaginations. With a process rooted in
improvisation, their original compositions are
charged with a folkloric and mythological
aesthetic, ruminating orn potent symbolic imagery.
Based in Los Angeles and Copenhagen, they have
performed in concerts and festivals
internationally, including the Darmstadt Summer
festival where they received honorable mention
for the Kranichstein Music Prize. They recently
released their first EP, The Water Tower, which
was recorded at Brønshøj Vandtårn, an empty
concrete tower in Copenhagen's city center.
Upcoming engagements include a month-long
residency at SÍM in Iceland with performances at
Mengi and Hljóðberg.
