Russell Molina is a composer, guitarist, and band leader from the GTA. His sonic style takes inspiration from the big band writing style of Bob Brookmeyer, combined with the playing style of ECM-style, Latin, and hip-hop jazz, culminates in the sound of Molina's original compositions. His take on contemporary jazz fusion is influenced by musicians such as Keith Jarrett, Johnny Alegre, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Molina has rapidly begun to make noise in the local Toronto music scene, which has allowed for his compositions to feature larger ensembles such as his aforementioned nonet.
