About this Event
Rumi: Love in a World at War
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
Join us for a night where words and sound meet in that very field.
An evening with Sharghzadeh, the voice behind Persian Poetics - a New York–based author, translator, and teacher who has carried Rumi’s words across borders, into the hearts of millions. Through reflection and storytelling, he opens a space to explore Rumi’s timeless question: how do we remain human, tender, and open in a world shaped by conflict?
As the words settle, music begins.
Kourosh Kanani, virtuoso guitarist, and Parham Bahadoran, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, weave a sonic tapestry drawn from the ancient folklore of Iran, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Interlaced with original compositions, their music moves between memory and presence - a journey rooted in tradition, yet alive with a contemporary pulse.
Together, they create something more than a performance - a conversation between poetry and melody, between longing and belonging, between war and love.
A talk, a poem, a breath between notes.
