Rum Club 10: The Power of Time — Aged Rum Deep Dive (10+ Years)
Rum Club turns ten and we’re celebrating the only way that feels right: by slowing things down and letting time do the talking.
This special edition of Rum Club is dedicated entirely to aged rums over 10 years old, offering a focused exploration of how extended aging transforms rum across styles, regions, and production methods. Together, we’ll unpack what happens when spirit, wood, and climate interact over decades and why aging in rum is far more complex than just a number on a label.
Through a guided tasting and open discussion, we’ll explore:
- How barrel type (ex-bourbon, secondary fills, and more) influences flavor and structure
- The difference between tropical vs. continental aging and why location matters as much as time
- How distillation methods (pot still vs. column still) affect how rum evolves in barrel
- Why longer aging doesn’t always mean “better,” but often means different
This session is designed to be educational but approachable, no brand presentations, no sales pitches, just honest conversation and shared bottles. As always with Rum Club, the focus is on transparency, curiosity, and building community through shared experience.
