What happens when the film you're making starts to make you?

One night in Barcelona. We open the doors of Alder Art Studios for the private screening of Ruinas Artificiales — a feature film about a group of amateur filmmakers whose experimental project gradually destroys their lives, while the fiction they are shooting begins to contaminate the reality they are living. Made in the lineage of Dogma 95 and the Nouvelle Vague, with the latest AI techniques and zero budget, the film asks the question of our era from inside it: what is still human when the machine writes, generates, and edits faster than we can think?

The night is the point. One filmmaker dissolving into multiple selves. A screenwriter outsourcing his words to a machine. An actress mistaking the work for a séance. An editor who turns out to be the only one still sane. The film is, among other things, a portrait of artists destroying themselves to make something genuine in a world that no longer distinguishes the genuine from the simulated. Lacan said tout le monde est fou — everyone is mad, all of us delirious. Ruinas takes that seriously. The end of the human and the end of the real are the same end, and that's the question we want to spend a night with.

Un director que se disuelve en varios. Un guionista que terceriza sus palabras a una máquina. Una actriz que confunde el rodaje con una sesión chamánica. Un editor que termina siendo el único testigo cuerdo. La película es, entre otras cosas, un retrato de artistas destruyéndose para fabricar algo genuino en un mundo que ya no distingue lo genuino de la simulación. Decía Lacan, tout le monde est fou — todos estamos locos, todos delirando. Ruinas se lo toma en serio. El fin de lo humano y el fin de lo real son el mismo fin, y esa es la pregunta con la que queremos pasar una noche.
