With so many talented groups nearby developing new, fun, and challenging ideas in the way they dance rueda de casino, we realized there’s a lot we can learn from each other. Before this innovative approach, we didn’t get too many opportunities to meet other casineros and take advantage of this collective knowledge. RuedX is an event that brings together those of us who are passionate about rueda for a weekend to dance, laugh, share ideas, discuss what we’ve been working on, highlight aspects that are unique to our cities, and— most importantly—learn from one another.
Festivities will kick off at 7pm on Thursday evening with Cincinnati’s premiere summer salsa event, “Salsa on the Square”. On Friday, you can see more of the Queen City with “Streetcar Rueda”, followed by a pool party and cookout (and more dancing poolside). If you can’t get in till the weekend, you’ll miss out on some fun but don’t worry—the workshops will start at 10am on Saturday morning, a big party on Saturday night, and finish up by 5pm Sunday afternoon (early enough so that anyone who’s got to sneak out to travel home that night can still make it). For anyone that can stick around, we’ll have a big dinner and party Sunday night too hosted by La Pequeña Fiesta Cubana
