Carnival of the Animals: Royal March of the Lion is a performance by Every house has a door and Essi Kausalainen working from themes of dedication and the symbolism of the Lion as King. This co-devised ensemble performance, directed by Lin Hixson, with original writing and dramaturgy by Matthew Goulish is the continuation of the Carnival of the Animals series of modular performances focusing on endangered species and the concept of extinction. With handmade costumes and set design by Finnish artist Essi Kausalainen, live music by Sima Cunningham, and performances by Bryan Saner, Elise Cowin, Kenya ‘KaoRaZen’ Fulton, Corey Smith, and special guest young people performers, the intricacies of non-human life are the foundation of this new work.
