We invite you to join us for a programme of powerful and exciting music from two significant and highly influential composers: Gabriel Fauré, who bridged the eras of late Romanticism and early modernism, and the renowned 20th Century Hungarian composer, musicologist and educator, Zoltan Kodály.Faure's Requiem is the best known of his works. As a master of subtle harmonies and memorable, beautiful melodies, it has become a beloved staple of the choral repertoire.
Kodály's Missa Brevis is a compelling and moving choral work written during the siege of Budapest in WWII, reflecting war's suffering and hope for peace and known for its folk-like melodies and distinctive Hungarian influences.
Kodály's final major work written in 1966, Laudes Organi, "Praise of the Organ", is described as a fantasia featuring medieval chants and a triumphant finale praising the organ itself, serving as a fitting end to Kodaly's career.
We are delighted to welcome back celebrated organist, Luke Bond, from St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, where he is Assistant Director of Music. Luke has accompanied a number of significant royal occasions, plays regularly for professional choirs in London and gives organ recitals in many and varied venues.
