An afternoon of local history going back to around 500 years ago, focusing on the city’s old defences and the stories surrounding them. We’ll have talks from: Humber Field Archaeology’s Peter Connelly, looking at why and how the South Blockhouse was built; Hull Uni’s Dr Nanette O'Brien looking at what kind of food Henry VIII would have eaten and how that differed from the food eaten by soldiers who manned the South Blockhouse; local historian and author Mike Covell on how Hull folk would have grown, eaten, kept, and caught their food.Plus we’ve got sketches from Hull Community Theatre and music from The May Geslins. And of course, we’ll have our yummy woodfired pizzas on the go too, available from 1pm.
