The Ross-Smith Lectures in Pastoral Care are an endowed, annual series focusing on the intersection of faith, medicine, and pastoral care. Established in 2013 by Dr. Calvin and Nancy Ross to honor their parents, these lectures feature renowned theologians and practitioners, aiming to foster discussion among ministers, students, and health professionals.Dr. Richard Beck will be presenting "The Shape of Joy: Transcendence and Human Flourishing". Dr. Beck is Professor of Psychology and Senior Fellow of the Saunders Center for Joy and Human Flourishing at Abilene Christian University. During his teaching career, Richard has been honored twice as ACU Teacher of the Year. Dr. Beck has also been recognized as Honors Teacher of the Year and has won the College of Arts and Sciences Classroom Teaching Award and Faith Integration Award. He is a decorated author, speaker, and personality.
All lectures will be held in the Mildred Welshimer Phillips Memorial Chapel, B.D. Phillips Building, Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan.
