We’ll explore the Afro-Cuban roots that shaped modern Salsa and Timba, tracing the evolution from Rumba and Son to today’s social dance floor. Then we’ll break down song structure — intro, cuerpo, montuno, mambo, coro — so you can recognize musical shifts in real time and respond with intention.
Instead of guessing when the music changes, you’ll understand why it changes.
***Sunday: Rueda Musicality + Rueda de Son (Contratiempo)
Sunday is all about applying musicality to the circle.
In Rueda Musicality, we’ll focus on what to call — and when. Learn how to match Rueda calls to different sections of the music, build energy intentionally, and create dynamic group moments instead of random combinations.
In Rueda de Son, we’ll explore dancing contratiempo in the circle using traditional Son combinations — think of it as Rueda On2, grounded in Son’s original rhythm and feel.
This weekend is about refinement, clarity, and musical depth — for Cuban Style and On2 dancers who want to level up their ears and their movement.
