About this Event
Roots & Resilience is a series for people- of-colour to come together and explore how we define, pursue, and achieve mental well-being within the context of post-colonial societies. In a world where the narratives of mental health are often shaped by colonial histories and systems, we ask: Who decides what mental illness is? Who determines the signs and symptoms? And who controls treatment options and accessibility?
Over the course of our time together, we will dive deep into how our collective experiences, cultural heritage, and ancestral resilience offer powerful tools for mental well-being. We will share, learn, and grow together through cross-cultural exchange and peer-led discussions. By drawing on the wisdom of our communities and our unique stories, we will challenge mainstream understandings of mental health and create space for diverse, holistic approaches to healing and thriving.
Join us for a transformative event that centers the voices of people of colour and emphasizes collective strength, cultural wisdom, and the ongoing pursuit of mental well-being.
