Explore the musicality, stylization, and expressive depth of Turkish Romani dance and Greek Tsifteteli, two interconnected dance styles with unique qualities rooted in shared Anatolian and Eastern Mediterranean cultures.In this workshop, Sophianna and Odiney will teach technique and combinations for each style, identifying where they overlap and differ- so you can walk away with a felt sense of these distinct (yet related) styles in your body.
You will learn a brief synopsis of the shared history of Romani, Greek and Turkish people, and have a better understanding of how their cultures, music, and dances converge.
This workshop is a great opportunity for anyone curious about the Romani & Tsifteteli Technique 16 week course, and wanting to get a taste of what’s to come.
This class is recommended for Intermediate and above as it will incorporate a variety of fundamental technical skills
