Roller Derby is an indie / dream pop band from Hamburg, formed in 2020. Their sound is defined by the love for chorus guitars, synth pads and catchy vocal melodies. Atop their songs, Philine Meyer’s vocals float above warm synth sounds that spread throughout the room shining in dreaminess and wistfulness. Dreaming and dancing both find their place in Roller Derby’s sound cosmos. Their musical inspirations range from the 60s to the 80s, to current artists like Angel Olsen, Alvvays and Beach House. Their music is about longing for love and enduring loss, yet the music never loses its lightness.
