Joining us following an appearance at Manchester Jazz Festival, we’re excited to present singer and saxophonist Emma Coates with a wonderful quartet drawn from the Leeds music scene, and a mix of jazz and folk songwriting woven together to create a really distinctive and intimate sound, inspired by the likes of Esperanza Spalding, This Is The Kit, The Magic Lantern and Snowpoet.
Emma is joined for this gig by a really imaginative and expressive line-up of Tom McEwen (guitar), Nika Ticciati (bass) and Louis Berthoud (drums). Many of you will have heard Tom and Louis recently at The Lescar in the wonderful Flo/ra gig in February.
Emma’s deeply personal storytelling explores feminine identity and growth through her own delicate and airy vocals and a thoughtful and complimentary atmosphere created by the band. Her debut EP ‘Borrower’ was released in October 2025, to acclaim from BBC Radio 3, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and RGM Magazine.
