This screening will have an introduction by Saint Joseph’s University Assistant Professor of Theatre and Film Gabrielle Miller. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), a small-time boxer from working-class Philadelphia, is arbitrarily chosen to take on the reigning world heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), when the undefeated fighter’s scheduled opponent is injured. While training with feisty former bantamweight contender Mickey Goldmill (Burgess Meredith), Rocky tentatively begins a relationship with Adrian (Talia Shire), the wallflower sister of his meat-packer pal Paulie (Burt Young).
About the Speaker:
Gabrielle Miller is a SAG/AFTRA actress, Film and theatre professor at Saint Joseph’s University, screenwriter and entrepreneur. Her television pilot “9 Lives: chapter one” garnered over 20 awards including Best Pilot, Best Female Director, Best First Time Director and Best Actress. She has her MFA in Acting and Directing from the University of Idaho and studied European Film and Theatre at Universiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands. She has a plethora of film and television credits, including alongside Eric Roberts in a recent film.
