Rock N Roll Colouring: a mindfulness morning session of colour and colouring across heavy metal and thrash metal favourites!About this Event
What a way to start our #Louder2024 Sunday morning...
Devised and created by two life long rock and heavy metal devotees and colouring book fans, Lisa Bardsley and Dan Tobin, Rock N’ Roll Colouring was formed by fans, for fans.
With a deep knowledge of the genre, Lisa and Dan took their passion for heavy metal and hard rock and combined it with a genuine interest in colouring as both a creative outlet and valid art form, to produce colouring books of high quality and attention to detail for the likes of Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Alice Cooper and more. Recognising that the art that adorns many classic album covers was often as important as the music within the grooves of the records themselves, the books appeal to fans of heavy music generally, and those that appreciate the talent and craft that made the artwork stand the test of time.
And not only that! Colouring has proven significant mental health benefits including mindfulness, relaxation and increased focus, and can be enjoyed by any age group. These books provide hours of creative and restful activity that combines a love of the music with a love of the art.
Joining Lisa and Dan to discuss the books and their many benefits will be lead guitarist and vocalist Ol Drake of the influential UK thrash metal band Evile, and Kerrang! journalist and noted writer Steve Beebee. Everyone is invited to come and nerd out over classic album artwork, together with heavy metal and hard rock music generally, and discuss the pros and cons of using pencils versus felt tips when trying to colour in the little devils in Iron Maiden's iconic 'The Number of The Beast' image.
