About this Event
What would it be like to be a beaver, a dragonfly, or a tree in a river valley undergoing transformation?
Riverlandia invites you into an immersive fictional sound story for ages 7+, created in response to a real-life river restoration project in Somerset, UK. This richly layered soundscape explores themes of environmental resilience and biodiversity through the voices of ten characters—most of whom are non-human beings.
The listening experience, suitable for adults and children aged 7 and up, lasts approximately one hour and will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A with Ellen Wiles—the UK-based writer, sound artist, and creator of Riverlandia. Wiles collaborated with sound designer Nicholas Allan and a vibrant cast of comedians and actors, including Gemma Whelan, Mike Wozniak, Bethany Antonia, Will Adamsdale, and Spencer Jones, to bring this riverscape to life.
Commissioned by The National Trust, this project is grounded in deep research and collaboration with scientists, conservationists, and local communities.
