The New Riverfront Park
Barracks St & N Peters St Entrance
Join Helen Sierminski of Nola Sidewalk Gardens and Forests for an Urban Nature Walk through the new Riverfront Park in the French Quarter. Saturday, May 9th, meet at 10am at the Barracks St & N Peters St Entrance. Feel free to call or text 504-410-5205 if you have trouble finding the meet up spot. It is suggested to park on N Peters near the Crescent Park South Entrance and walk two blocks over to Barracks St OR purchase parking in the lot near the entrance.
This park just opened and connects the Riverwalk with Crescent Park. This is a great achievement in and of itself but this park is also notable because of the amount of native plants and trees that were included in the project. This will provide a wonderful habit for the local wildlife that calls the riverfront home, as well as for migrating birds. Of note, there are Bald Cypress, Southern Magnolia and Cedar trees, as well as Black-Eyed Susans, American Beautyberries and Purple Coneflowers, just to name a few.
This walk will focus on identifying the plants that are here but also experiencing this nature space by the river. Birds and other wildlife will be observed. Let’s explore this new space together!
It is suggested that you bring binoculars (if you have them) and comfortable walking shoes.
This walk is free but donations are happily accepted. Your donations allow us to continue offering walks such as these.
