As part of a new series exploring global beverage rituals, we are delighted to welcome Alma Cacao for an introduction to ceremonial cacao
About this Event

Timed ahead of Easter—a moment when chocolate is often reduced to a simple treat—this session invites guests to rediscover the true value of cacao by engaging with it in its most authentic, soulful form.

Guests are encouraged to slow down, settle in, and experience cacao not as confectionery, but as an ancient plant medicine with thousands of years of cultural, spiritual, and communal significance.

Led by Craig and Amy Marshall—husband‑and‑wife founders of the UK‑based ethical brand Alma Cacao—the session will begin by tracing cacao’s story from its origins in Mayan and Aztec civilisation through to its place in modern ceremonial practice.

Drawing on their time living alongside indigenous cacao‑growing communities in Guatemala and Mexico, Craig and Amy will explain the difference between ceremonial cacao, dark chocolate and powdered cacao, and share the ritual traditions and symbolism that have shaped cacao’s role as a drink of connection and grounding.

Guests will have the rare opportunity to move through cacao’s full journey from bean to paste, touching, smelling, and handling cacao pods, raw and toasted beans, and freshly ground ceremonial paste.

The event will close with a guided breathwork and sound healing session led by experienced practitioner Faith McAllister, weaving conscious breath with Tibetan singing bowls and chimes to integrate the cacao experience.

Ticket includes:

  • Welcome drink
  • Interactive chocolate and cacao tasting
  • Breathwork and sound healing session
