The first session, hosted by Ewa Marcinek, explores multilingual writing and what it means to live and write between languages. Together we’ll look at writing that questions the idea that language, place of origin, and identity must align. Through writing prompts and conversations, we will explore how working with more than one language can shape a writer’s voice, form, and sense of belonging, while engaging with poetics that emerge from plurilingual playfulness and curiosity.
The session will be in English, with optional support in Polish and basic Icelandic.
Ewa Marcinek is a Polish-Icelandic writer and cultural organiser, a co-founder of several literary and artistic initiatives, including Ós Pressan and RVK Poetics. She is the author of Polishing Iceland (2022). Her poetry, essays, and short stories have been published and adapted for theatre, film, visual art, music, and radio.
