*FREE EVENT* The phenomenon of a Full Moon arises when our planet, Earth, is precisely sandwiched between the Sun and the Moon. This alignment ensures the entire side of the Moon that faces us gleams under sunlight.
On 31st May we will see the a rare second full moon of the month May. This is known as the Blue Moon.
The phrase "once in a blue moon" means rare, originating from 16th-century slang for impossible, later inspired by atmospheric smoke or dust making the moon actually look blue.
It will also be a "micromoon" because it is at the furthest point in its orbit, appearing about 12-14% smaller than a "supermoon".
**Please meet us at the benches above Long Beach car park, Grouville, from 21.30**
Moonrise: 21.57
Sunset: 21.04
Once again, we shall be pointing our telescope skyward to discover the beauty of the full moon. Earlier in the month we enjoy good views of Venus, Jupiter and even the Sky Train ...I wonder what we shall see this time?
If you have binoculars and a folding chair please bring them along.
Warm clothing and a hot drink are a good idea.
For the swimmers ...high tide is at 19.28
Come and join us for this popular free event and spend some time connecting with nature.
