After selling out two previous dates back in February at the historic venue, The Town's own Hip Hop icon Richie Rich announces two additional shows at Yoshi's in Oakland, slated for August 1st and 2nd. Following a nearly 5-year musical sabbatical, Dubble R -- largely known for his reality-fueled narratives, delivered in that all-too-familiar raspy vocal tone -- unleashed his latest body of work, Richard, earlier this year. The ten-track opus contains appearances from Larry June, Young JR, Jane Handcock, E-40 & V. White of The Delinquents.
The former 415 ["Groupie A** B," "Side Show"] emcee initially began his solo journey way back in 1990 with the release of his classic debut, Don't Do It, which spawned its brilliant, not to mention timeless, title track.
After appearing on a pair of high-profile collabs for both Tupac Shakur, who was one of his best friends till the very end, and the Luniz [ "I Got 5 on It (Bay Ballas Remix)"], the living West Coast legend returned in November '96 with his third studio collection, and first on Def Jam Recordings, Seasoned Veteran. The set's second single, "Do G's Get To Go To Heaven?," was dedicated to the memory of his fallen comrade, 2Pac.
Enter 2025: Working alongside friend / musical brethren, proudly independent - still on the rise - Vallejo, CA, rap star, LaRussell, who reintroduced Rich on the super energetic, “What We Doin!?,” also featuring P-Lo & MALACHI, which dropped in June of last year, has been at the forefront of this much needed, not to mention long overdue, Richie Rich resurgence. 35 years removed since Don't Do It, and Richard sounds just as fresh, contemporary, and reinvigorated as ever before -- New music, New Shows, Same Richie Rich!
