Prepare to be amazed by the jaw-dropping guitar artistry of Richard Smith, one of the world’s most extraordinary fingerstyle guitarists. Hailing from Beckenham, Kent, England, Smith began playing guitar at just five years old, launching a lifelong journey that would earn him international acclaim for his breathtaking technique, musical versatility, and engaging stage presence.
Inspired by legendary players including Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, Django Reinhardt, and Joe Pass, Smith has developed a dazzling style that effortlessly blends country, jazz, classical, ragtime, and swing into one unforgettable performance.
Richard’s concerts are musical journeys that move seamlessly from Great American Songbook standards to Scott Joplin rags, Bach and classical masterpieces, traditional fiddle tunes, and swinging jazz classics inspired by Django Reinhardt and Joe Pass. Along the way, he delivers stunning arrangements of Beatles favorites, inventive original compositions, and plenty of humor and storytelling.
Sean Mencher is an acclaimed guitarist, songwriter, and bandleader known for his mastery of rockabilly, swing, and roots music. A founding member of the influential rockabilly band High Noon, Mencher has spent decades touring internationally and recording with artists across the roots and Americana scenes. His distinctive guitar style blends vintage rock ‘n’ roll energy with jazz-influenced swing and impeccable musicianship. In addition to performing, Mencher is a respected educator and historian of American roots music, sharing his deep knowledge of classic guitar styles with audiences and students alike.
Whether you’re a serious guitar fan or simply love great live music, these performances are virtuosic, joyful, and endlessly entertaining and a rare chance to witness a master guitarists up close in the intimate setting of The Hill Arts.
